Harvesting rice

Agriculture is the key industry of Kakuda City. The chief products are rice, vegetables, meat, and fruit. Kakuda is the prefecture‘s top producer of rice and ‘nashi’ (Japanese pears).

In recent years discussions with consumers have lead to new developments such as door-to-door delivery of produce grown with reduced amounts of agricultural chemicals. Studies are carried on consistently with the future of agriculture always in mind.
